Tempted Temptation

From the start of the season
the rains came heavily down
rain has long been predicted,
the monsoons of love.
A torrential flooding tonight
with our path being eaten up,
we climbed to higher ground
and up there for the first real time
I saw this pretty look.
In a flash,
the sky had really opened up
a biblical downpour for sure
hands were spread like palms
catching all the laughter.
The midnight air we kissed
our shoulders they were soaked,
we tried to huddle under cover
every touch felt new and,
the crawling water kept advancing.
Places where we once walked
disappeared under a torrent,
dangerous now, we waited for lights
not wanting to leave
tonight was our one real chance
to float away arm in arm
and disappear
without a clue or trace.
