Neon Vacancy

Working the heavy streets
the rain threatens with its sheets
gentle are the reminders
time is passing slowly
nothing ever changes.
she drags herself
to another customer
telling herself
her beauty is one of a kind
that is up until
the bright sky illuminates
all her pretty flaws.
I’m beginning to fall
for this heartbroken girl
on the edge
of every artificial poem
I wonder if she still reads
all my handsome words
that I have devoted
retracing the Love
I hold for her.
The neon lights glow
24 hours a day
always open
My mouth whispers
her name against
the pillow I dream upon.
Perhaps I should tell you
today I published
My first book
Orin Lane
on Amazon.
It’s in there
I’ll get my redemption
from those
who’ve been dangerous
come tonight love
I’ll plot
My next new novel
we’ll time travel
make love
go back
start all over again.
